Overview:
The Business and Economics Specialist will be responsible for teaching Upper Secondary Business Studies and Economics and delivering high-quality instruction in IGCSE and A-Level Business and Economics. This role is ideal for an educator who is committed to fostering critical thinking, analytical skills, and a passion for business and economic concepts in students.
Key Responsibilities:
Teaching Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging and effective lessons in IGCSE and A-Level
Business and Economics, ensuring curriculum standards are met.
- Use innovative teaching methods to inspire and challenge
students, catering to a variety of learning styles and abilities.
- Prepare students for sitting public exams, ensuring they are
equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to perform well
Curriculum Development and Planning:
- Develop and implement lesson plans and schemes of work aligned
with the school's academic goals and examination board requirements.
- Ensure progression of skills and knowledge across year groups
and subjects.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of the Business
and Economics curriculum.
Assessment and Feedback:
- Prepare and assess coursework, assignments, and examinations in
line with IGCSE/A-Level standards.
- Provide constructive feedback to support students' academic
growth and performance improvement.
Pastoral and Extracurricular Engagement:
- Act as a form tutor and support the school's pastoral care programme.
- Participate in and contribute to school duties, events,
activities, and initiatives related to Business and Economics, such as
business competitions, career days, and economic workshops.
Professional Development:
- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices and advancements in teaching Business and Economics.
- Collaborate with colleagues to share expertise and improve
teaching practices within the department.
Qualification Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Business, Economics,
Education, or a related field.
- A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or
equivalent).
- Experience teaching Lower Secondary Business Studies and
IGCSE/A-Level Business and Economics.
- Strong knowledge of the Cambridge curriculum is highly
desirable.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal
skills.
- A commitment to student-centered teaching and fostering a
supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
- Clean and clear background check.
- Fluent in English.
